does anyone know approximately how long it takes for a permanent resident (not yet citizen) to file for his/her spouse? just curious.

I'm not sure how long but it does it a very long time. They always say it's better to wait but you can also look on the timeline at the service centre you would be going thru. Residents can file for their spouse.

Good Morning,

Congrats  That's awesome. Aren't they pretty hard to get? We want Tony's kids to be able to come here and visit when they get a little bit older. Would they have to get the tourist Visa also? I wonder how hard that will be

I always thought applying for kids are a lot easier then grown adults but I can be wrong or maybe it just seem that way to me. I had to send her an invitation letter (purpose of her trip) and my employer letter to show I can am financial respons. She's suppose to get the visa tomorrow so she's staying in Portmore tonight w/my cousin. She had to show ties to JA.

Darah,

If you have some curry powder around you can make this quite easily.

CURRY CHICKEN

1 sm. fryer chicken (or two chicken breasts - whatever you are using)

Indian curry (2 1/2 to 3 tablespoons should suffice)

Seasoning salt

Black pepper

Dash brown sugar

1/4 c. vegetable oil

Irish potato

2 c. chicken broth

1 med. bag garbanzo beans (1/2 to 1 can)

1 med. onion

Dice potatoes; set aside in cold water.

Season cut up chicken. (with the salt, black pepper to taste)

In 1/4 cup vegetable oil add brown sugar, cook until dark brown; add onions and curry and seasoned chicken.

Completely cover chicken with mixture. Add 2 cups chicken broth and simmer (ON LOWish HEAT) for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Add garbanzo beans. Drain water from potatoes and add to pot. Cook until potatoes are tender. Serve over boiled rice.

If you dont have curry - you can use tomato paste and turn it into something like chicken cacciatore. Or you can use a mixture of ketchup and soy sauce, but add the soy a bit at a time and keep tasting it to make sure its not too salty.

Congrats Anna!! I think with older folks they figure they won't stay....after first blast of winter anyway.

I've been reading about tourist visas for the past week...it's a bit daunting. Anyhow, if the child is udner 6 they don't need to have an interview but a parent or legal gaurdian still has to appear at a scheduled interview to submit childs passport, etc.

I am probably going to try to efile it this week. I have a $100 paymaster ticket. I am hoping that when you submit the papers, actual available interviews will open up...right now there are no available times....

I spoke to my grandma and she said they didn't do much she went in at 8:15 and came out at 9:15. They took the application and receipt from her. Then asked who is here in the states and how long is she planning on staying. She brought all this add'l info but they never asked for it. They also asked her how long ago have she seen me which was in Dec so they approved her and told her the visa will be courier to MoBay on Friday. She's not sure how long she got but told them she wanted to come in Aug. I am so happy!!

Hi Rita....glad to hear from you and know that you are ok

Congrats Anna on the tourist visa for your Grandma

Elizabeth...Good recipe

Well the puppies are adorable (L):luv:(L) Once i saw them I just couldn't break Andre's heart and tell him he can't have them. They look really good...good coloring, good markings. They are very skinny and I am sure they have worms and fleas so we are whisking them off to the vet this afternoon. We can afford puppies...but we can't afford really sick puppies. I want to find out before we get extremely attached. We set a limit and that is all we are going to be able to spend (there goes our trip to the east coast  )

Andre is sooooo happy to have something to do during the day and they are a HUGE amount of work...I don't know if he really knows what he got himself into. Because they were abandoned they were really scared and skiddish (sp??) at first but they are starting to feel a lot more secure and are all over us know (if we let them)

Thanks for asking about them. I will post a pic as soon as I get ahold of a digital camera.

I must have looked at the wrong number...wow that is really really sad :(

I want to say she applied sometime last year but I remember she waited because she wanted to see what was going on w/me. She applied originally to come to my wedding but since the denial she wanted to wait a little longer. I think the whole thing took about 6 months (give or take) but she took her time.

Hey Jamie -- I have three dogs. I don't know what Roy would be doing with himself all day if they weren't there to keep him company. They are all so cute together. I think the youngest already understands him when he speaks Patois to her. I am thankful that he comes from a family that accepts and likes dogs.
