I-864 fee ($88)

Hello everyone,

I have a question about the $88.00 fee for Form I-864 that has been filed from within the U.S.A. How much longer after submitting the AOS packet to USCIS should I expect to receive the invoice from the U.S. Department of State for this fee?

Thanks!

You're supposed to submit all fees at time of submission to avoid processing delay.

Thank you!

Yes, but Harpa is correct that this particular fee isn't due at all for I-485 applicants.

Just correcting another assumption in the original --- didn't want him (her) to wait for an "invoice" from the USCIS for any other applications.

Thank you chitown and hmh33 for your responses/clarifications.

What made me think that we had to pay this fee was the I-864 FAQ page on the Department of State website. Sorry I can't post the link here because I'm new to VJ, but a Google search of "I-864 Affidavit of Support (FAQs)" will take you to the page I'm talking about.

Thankfully the fee doesn't apply to us.
