Planning ahead for NVC - Question

After reviewing a screen shot of the online DS-260 forms required to be completed by the applicant after NOA2, we noticed the online form has more specific requirements for dates of residence - they actually ask for the month, day, and year.

Any experience out there with this? We have no way of knowing the exact date for all residences - some were many years ago - month and year, no problem, but the actual day of the month is not possible.

Any comments?

Was it an apartment building owned by a company? if so you can contact the manager or someone that would have access to tenants information and they will be able to assist you with that, that's what I did for my very first address of when I was 16.

Do the best you can. Remember that when you start and stop leases they tend to be at the beginning or end of a month or right in the middle (for instance I moved into my current apartment on the 15th.) Most of us don't move on weird dates and it's not like they're actually going to be running around checking exact dates for something 15 years ago... I've moved 17 times since I was 16. There are bound to be some educated guesses in there, but they're as accurate as I can make it with no spaces in between.

Yeah, Saylin mentioned that she'd never seen anyone denied because they didn't know exact dates, but you should still try your best. Think about when you moved. Was it cold? Warm? At least you can narrow down the season =P Since you know the month, you're prob pretty good.

Petitioner LPR upgraded to USC June 22, 2012
August 22, 2012: case complete
October 18, 2012: Interview (APPROVED)
October 26, 2012: Picked up visa from DHL (delay caused by Sandy)
December 15, 2012: POE Atlanta....................became USC July 2016!!!!

Mothers' Journey (My sister is the petitioner)

September 10, 2013: Sent I-130 (UPS next day service)

September 12, 2013: Received text to confirm delivery

September 16, 2013: Received NOA 1

March 22, 2014: Received NOA 2

April 8, 2014: File Received by NVC

May 26, 2015: Interview (approved)..........now LPR (delays caused by 2 RFE)

Did you use DS-230 or the online version - DS-260 - DS-260 requires a day

Velrich probably did not do online forms so they would have only been required to put the month and year. We will be required to put the day as well. I am going to put the first of the months. I don't imagine they'll be looking for exact dates. To be honest, my guess is that they simply added an unnecessary item to the online version of the same form. Unfortunately, it's there and we have to deal with it.

I will be paying the fees as soon as they become available and will tackle the forms as soon as they come up as available to complete. I used the DS-230 and it also asked for day-month-year. I just left the day out.
