I sent my petition to Nebraska this past Saturday. I realized today that I wrote Nebraska Service Center instead of Department of Homeland Security on the money order. :bonk: Has anyone else done this? If so, will they send it back or go ahead and cash it?

Wait a few days and see, they will either return your package or cash the money order, and send you NOA1. Let us know how it goes.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

When my petition was returned from Vermont (because I was a dolt), there was a note at the bottom indicating that while they wouldn't reject packages because the check was made out to USCIS Vermont, they preferred it to be to the Department Homeland Security.

Let us know, but don't worry about it too much. Everyone deserves a mulligan now and then. :) It won't take long for them to return it if they need to, and you can also check whether your check was cashed through your bank.

Ours was made out to USCIS (which I am too lazy to write out in full, but my fiance just about managed to squish into the space on the cheque on about his fifth attempt) - which I hope is okay, as it does say either that or the DHS on the USCIS website... the said cheque still hasn't been cashed though, and we've not had a NOA1 either, so... until one or the other (both, even) happens, I'll be worrying...

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

They accepted and cashed my money order on Nov. 15th even though I made the money order payable to the Nebraska Service Center.

To eliminate any additional stress, which there will be enough of that with this process, follow the directions from the I-129F form information, page 4 section 13, making the check or money order payable to the Department of Homeland Security.
