Fiance coming to USA. Immigration question.

This is pretty easy, I think. At what point during her flight to USA does an immigration officer actually open that sealed packet they tell them not to touch. She is just curious. Does it happen in Manila? first point of entry? or, last place where she disembarks for good?

They take it at the first time she hits US soil and must use the visa for entry into the US. They may or may not actually open it. That one depends. Seems like most of the time they open it.

She will be making a refueling stop in Chicago, probably not even leaving plane. Final destination is Boston. Seems I remember landing in L.A. once and everyone left plane, went through customs with baggage, then got back into plane with all their bags again. Everyone was so tired and dragging their heals.

The POE will be either the first state or territory you go through and switch planes I'd assume. Depending on your route. My wife's POE was Guam. We flew from Manila to Guam(POE), Guam to Honolulu(Customs), Honolulu to SFO, SFO to ACV.

She just needs to hand the packet to the INS officer when she goes to the desk at immigration at POE. Depending on the airport, expect minimum 2 hours to clear (waiting in line and actual processing).

Don't worry which area to go to. There will be another INS officer "directing traffic" showing which line to form up in. Just ask him/her which line is for K-1, K-3 etc. and they will point.....

INS hasn't existed since 2003. As I stated in my previous post, the officer will be from US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

If she stops in Chicago she will be deboarded and have to clear immigration there. That is where tbey will take the envelope.

Don't even show Manaila immigration that envelope, all that is needed in Manila is the US visa in her passport. Good luck..
