My fiancee has been to her hukou office and they said they don't have her birth certificate and they can not give her one. We don't know what to do from here. Does anyone know what she can do? Thanks for any help.

Is this her only hukuo city, ever?

Did she transfer hukuo from one city to another?

what is her current hukuo city, and if there was a prior one, what was it, also ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Her hukou was in her hometown in Xuyi, Huai'an. She took it to Wuxi for school but she moved back home in July she had left it there and its being sent back to Xuyi by today or tomorrow.

is she in her hukuo city now?

if so, another member of her family, who's got her listed in their hukuo,

can get it done.

Sounds to me, without HER book, the registry office has been ignoring her.

For her, for now, it is absolutely unobtainable since she not have her hukuo book in her hand to show .

Seriously, another family member , with that family member's hukuo book, can get it done for her IF she's listed in that other family member's hukuo book.

Alright thank you. She's in her hukou city now. I'll let her know in the morning and see if her mom or dad can get it. If not she can try again when her book is back. Also where can she get her white book? And would white book have the police certificate and unmarried certificate or should she go elsewhere to get those?

Thanks so much. If she has anymore problems with hukou I may post back here. Hopefully it all goes well now.

Should she get multiple copies of birth certificate translated? I've seen some suggest have three; one for interview, one for AOS and one for things like bank account and ID.

Agreed, or more. It is always easier to get more copies now, rather than trying to get more copies when you when you are in the States.

A&B meant 'originals' la ;)

If it's bound, it's original, cause of them there red stamp thingies...

Just saying.

3 is a good number, IMO. 4 is ok also, 5 is great.

however many you get, scan one to pdf and have it emailed somewhere, as there's steps along the way where a photocopy (ie - printed from pdf file) is absolutely OK.

Thanks both of you. Another city's notary can do the translations right? Her town is small and doesn't do translations. She saw a company that does it by emailing scanned pages from her hukou that has experience with embassies but its $400 is that a normal price?

no no no.

IN HER DISTRICT, there's a huge translation office.

Sure, not in her small town, but IN HER DISTRICT, no worries.

She'll have to scout a bit, find it.

400 RMB, maybe, but 400 USD? no, la.

Alright thanks. Sorry she's a little clueless about finding all this. So hukou can give certificates then find her districts notary to translate?

It was a company in Beijing and she said it converted to $400 USD they said doing it for USA visa will cost more.
