Hi everyone,

My fiance is specialist rank in the US military, he has filed a K-1 petition for me. I would like to know if the requirement for proof of support ($20000+) applies to the military as well. Do they factor in the military benefits. Do we need a sponsor?. His salary does not exceed the poverty limit.

Any response will be appreeciated

If you, the sponsor, are on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States, and the immigrant you are sponsoring is your spouse or child, your income only needs to equal 100 percent of the U.S. poverty level for your family size, which is around 16.000 for two people

Unless he is active duty - deployed, he follows the same guidelines of 125% of poverty limit. If active duty - then 100% poverty guidelines apply. Info is on uscis.gov under forms, I-864P has all the amounts.
