Hello everyone,

My name is Aurore (Dawn in english), and I am 29 years old.

I am married to a U.S. citizen, my husband is a military, based in California.

We got married 15 days ago in California, and I am now back in France.

We wish to start the process for bringing me in USA, and we need your help because we are totally lost.

I believe I rode that we can ask for a Form I-230, can you confirm?

Exactly what should we ask? Where should we submit our forms?

What are the documents I have to prepare in France?

Thank you again for your answers to my first questions.

I hope to be in California in January or February 2014... time will be long, I miss him more every day (and I'm home just since a week)

cheers !

I just reread that guide, and I thought I should mention that you should ignore any K-3 reference or instructions. You want the CR-1 visa (the K-3 is basically unobtainable). The process starts with the USC sending off the I-130 petition package, which establishes a familial relationship between you two. After 5-6 months depending (might be faster since he is military) the I-130 petition will be approved. Then your file goes to the National Visa Center, where you submit some things (you can study on this later) and then once that is finished the file goes to France where you will have your interview for the visa. THen you get the visa and move to the US, and by entering the US you will trigger your Permanent Resident status and a Greencard will be mailed to you (proof of that status).

Thank you a lot...you are a great help, I hope the fact that he is a military could help us, but we will see.

Now thanks to you, I know what kind of papers I need.

I rode that a letters from our friends or family could help, I'm going to ask them to write a letter about me, and about us.

I hope I could have all the papers for next week, I'm going to order what I miss.

Do you think (I'm pretty sure, but I ask you) we need to print emails, skype conversation, our calls, our pictures etc for inclued in the files?

Yes, you will need to include copies of those things as well in the I-130 petition.

What Harpa said. Follow the VJ guide, it will help a lot. And browse the USCIS website, read carefully the instructions for each form your husband will need to include in his package. It takes time and it can be overwhelming at first, because it's a lot of infos, but you'll then see that it's not too complicated if you follow the instructions and the VJ guide. When there's something you don't understand, chances are you are not the only one who wondered the same question. A quick search in the search bar on the right top of VJ pages should give the answers. I would say it works 99% of the time! :)

I get it ;)

So, I understood a CR-1 for me, and my husband in the same time a I-230.

And thanks all of you guys I think we can do it :)

If you're speaking of the DS-230, that is done later in the process of the CR1/IR1 visa.

The US citizen in your circumstance will file an I-130 first. That's all.

Yes, your husband apply first for the I-130 petition. Once it's approved, you will be able to apply for a CR-1 visa. Study carefully the Vj guide that Harpa gave you (the link), it is all explained simply.

"After the US citizen spouse files (and has approved) the proper petition with the USCIS, the foreign spouse will complete the visa process completely outside the US."

:P

oops sorry, it's my fault, I would say a I-130 of course !

So, in the first time the I-130 for my husband (the us citizen) and the CR-1 for me !

The CR1/IR1 visa process begins with the I-130 application.

You begin by filing that, then you will file more paperwork after that is approved.

The entire process of paperwork is for the CR1/IR1 visa.

There is no paperwork called CR1/IR1.

Ok, thank you.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood. English is not my native language, so sometimes I make mistakes. But mistakes help me to improve my english

So, I think I get all my informations, thanks again for the link and your patience.
