Face it. You're screwed.
Si, man, but even more so: your life, and potentially your manhood, are forfeit.

I married Mrs. T-B. on Halloween, and our wedding party was on Pearl Harbor Day, so that makes it easy to remember around here.

Our rich fantasy life is our mutual salvation. If she says, "What did you get me for our anniversary," I promptly respond, "A lot of nice stuff, but the rubias (my imaginary harem of 6 beautiful blondes) thought that it was for them, and they took it all." I then add to that, "Why don't you call the rojo (imaginary redheaded dude with whom she imaginarily cheats) and ask him to give you something else?"

There is nothing like having a harem of rubias, or a rojo, to pull one's nether regions from the fire, no man.

Edited to add: Actually, she didn't give me anything this year, and she put on her pouty face when she told me. I said, "That's quite all right -- buying for both me and the rojo can be expensive." That made her feel better, si man.

Edited again to add: Whenever I'm 15 minutes late getting home from work, and she asks where I've been, I assume an air of righteous indignation and say, "Why, with the rubias, of course! Use your head!" The truth always works, si man.

I'm lucky, I work in an office with RUB women and they always ask me what I plan to do for all these various occassions. They are great, because I get gift/planning ideas from them. Another thing I do is use ecards, and schedule the delivery dates in advance.

That's a good thing imo. It saves money and it doesn't put any pressure on you to remember to get her something.

I saved that post to my notepad just now.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

However, she kept jockeying for answers to the question of "Where are you taking me for our honeymoon (anniversary)?" I generously kept offering to drop her at the rojo's house, but eventually we took 3 day-trips locally, si man.

Meah, my husband gave me a card for my 30th birthday, and took me out for dinner. It wouldn't be so bad if he hadn't promised me a bunch of things I really want and need, like a laptop, a kindle or a camera.

What are you gonna do, right? Funny enough, I think he feels because he wanted to buy them, that makes it ok. I am not a materialistic person, but, boy, did I feel like ######, sometimes I think he would have gotten them for another wife. I guess he is just used to me being extremely low maintenance.

I ordered her a Kelty backpack/ carry on from Amazon that has a laptop strap thingy inside. On the down side it's going to take 2 - 3 weeks to get here seeing how we live in the middle of nowhere. I'l pick her up a card today. And ya I got it saved to my google calender now so I get a reminder two weeks early. I suck at remembering dates big time. Her birthday is the day before mine so that one is easy but this wedding anniversary date just doesn't sink into my head.

On the other hand, Alla is horrible about remembering birthdays for others, including myself and the boys or her mom and I have to remind her over and over. Just one of many "double standards"

There are two signs of aging, si man. The first is loss of memory, and I forget the other, si ma... si m... uh, si somebody.

Taking Vitamin D is supposed to help the memory. I can't remember why, no somebody.

OH HELL NO! Also never forget ANY other event which involves her getting gifts...New Year's, Women's Day, Mother's Day, Birthday, Anniversary, Christmas, even Sweetest Day :o It would be like all 7 deadly sins in one to forget

Same in my house. I enjoy doing it, so no big deal.

When I met Alla, quite by chance, we had a great couple days together and then I had to leave Prague. She asked me, walking to the subway, if I would email her. I said "I will send you an email every day for the rest of my life" She stopped and stared at me and said "You are lying". I said "No I am not, and I will do it even after we are married and living in the same house" She just laughed.

I have sent her at least one email every day since then, except about 3 days I was in the hospital until one of the boys brought me my laptop, so how would I forget? I have to think of something to write every day!

I do the same with flowers, as described in the much maligned and censored Flower Power topic on RUB. I promised live flowers always in the house. The signal is the emptying of the last vase.

She also does not like cut flowers...better to buy her a plant with flowers she can put in her flower garden, or a blooming houseplant

Vika likes fresh flowers better than almost anything else.

1/Give in - Just give in and make notes, create 10 reminders in your calendar, phone, set alarms and all that stuff, so you won't miss the next one.

2/Own it - Come clean and tell her you can't remember these dates in the way she expects and promise her to celebrate your anniversary on a random weekend of your choosing, by taking her somewhere nice, as a surprise, or getting her a special anniversary gift on another date 'just cause'. (and of course, remember to come through!!!!!)

I suggest putting all the important dates into a phone or auto reminder in the calendar. Also, don't just do the day. If your reminder is "her birthday is tomorrow" you are going to get into trouble again  Maybe set multiples.

Tell her you will take her to Hawaii and if she is good you will come back next year and pick her up. :P

I like it  I may actually use this one myself.

Good idea in theory, but (1) she would insist that I also pay for the rojo to go along, and (B) even though I'd be "alone" with the rubias, they'd never stop nagging as to why I sent Mrs. T-B. to Hawaii instead of leaving her here and taking them there with me. Reality bites, see man.

That stinks! I dont forget mine, my problem is two fold though. 1st she remembers every first... every! I know the really important things, and Im trying to remember the things that are important to her. 2nd I spend hours, days, weeks trying to find the perfect gift for her. She always gets me something perfect, not expensive, not cheesy, just perfect. Thats what I want to do for her every time, I just get anxiety and I think I try too hard. last year was the first time I hit a home run. she complained about talking on her touch screen when it was cold out in Russia so I found a really nice pair of isotoners that were made for touch screen phones. She didnt care about the $300 massage day pampering nearly as much as the gloves. I still hear about it. I wish I could do it every time. No one knows her near as well as I do, I still have a hard time though. I have 19 more days and Im still thinking for her birthday. Good luck with that Kip!

Youre not sleeping outside now are you? I would think its getting kinda chilly up there now. Im sure you show her every day how much you love her and glad you are together. It is a special day, but every day you are together is special and a blessing.

You have a keeper Oliver. My wife is the same in regards to practical gifts, but she says she would rather have a gift card because everything I choose is something that either doesn't fit, or she doesn't need/want, etc...

she would rather have a gift cardMrs. T-B. initially liked gift cards, but now she prefers cash, which is even more flexible. At her last birthday, I gave her a mushy card with a $50 bill inside. The following dialogue ensued:

T-B. [presenting card[: Happy birthday, Cariño [sweetheart].

Mrs. T-B.: Oh, Cariño! I love my card!

T-B.: What does it say that you like the best?

Mrs. T-B.: It says "$50"!
