My fiancee and I have plans to spend Christmas with her family and so I will go there then, but she will have her visa in hand any day now and we were thinking about her coming here soon (like within the next 10 days) and getting married quickly and applying for AP status so that she is free to go back so that we can spend Christmas with her family. We only plan to do this if it is possible. So the question is, is it? Will we be able to apply for change of status let's say around Nov. 10 and also for AP status to be able to travel by the 20th of December? What is the general time frame for AP status and how much does it cost? Thanks again everyone!

You file for EAD and AP when you file for AOS after you are married. The fees for those forms are waived when filed with a pending I-485. However, it takes 2-3 months to receive the EAD/AP after filing. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos
