After talking with other family in the Philippines we were told my wifes parents took a cell phone with them to the embassy. Does anyone know if there is a place to keep the cell phone when they are in the US embassy. The interview was at 6:15 am so we are still waiting to see what happen.

Cellphones are not permitted inside the Embassy.

We know this but wanted to know if anyone knew of a place they will be able to keep it. I thought I seen a post from before with someone talking about a place outside to pay a fee to keep your cell phone.

There are people outside the Embassy who can keep the cellphone. You pay them a fee.

But FYI, those people are NOT Embassy employees nor are they in any way connected with USEM.

I'd sure like to know where you get this from? You are not supposed to bring your cell phone, but nothing anywhere says it is automatic deny if you do. If you are going to be taking about automatic deny, please use facts when you post.

My wifes parents just called and let us know they were approved. They paid 150.00 peso to someone outside and they held the phone for them.

I told my wife I am going there and open a cart for holding electronics for people going to the embassy. Just 50 people a day at 150 pesos is 7500 pesos a day at 5 days a week its 37,500 a week x 4 weeks in a month you have 150,000 pesos a month.:dance: Who is with me.

Please provide a link to where you read that from USCIS as USCIS has nothing to do with regulating anything with USEM. If you have a cell phone when entering the embassy they will deny entry to the embassy they will not deny the visa. Once you remove the cell phone from your person they will let you enter.

Here is what the embassy states on their website:

NOTICE TO VISA APPLICANTS

  • Cell Phones Not Permitted on Embassy Grounds
For the safety and security of all applicants and employees, visa applicants are not permitted to bring cell phones or other electronic devices into the U.S. Embassy. Applicants who bring such devices will be denied entry. Please make arrangements to leave your electronic equipment in a safe location off Embassy grounds during your interview appointment. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your cooperation.
