Ok, so not that far yet, but I am all about finding things in advance....

Where do we file for the AOS eventually if we live in the Seattle area? I guess I thought the AOS thing was going down to the local office and filing and getting the greencard within 4 months, but apparently I am grossly wrong....

Also when you file for EAD (which I know takes about 90 days) how long does the EAD last? Does it last the length until the greencard is received?

And sorry if I am repeating anyone elses posts or if there is an obvious place to find these answers...I just got back home from spending 3 months with my fiance and now have to do the waiting game again and won't see him until he gets his Visa. :crying::cry:

All AOS filings go to the national office in Chicago, unless you live in Dallas TX.

Since you are new about this you may want to read the guides on VJ.

Definately look at the VJ Guides as they are very useful ...

All AOS applications go to the Chicago Lockbox ... They are then transfered to MSC ... The EAD/AP are processed at MSC while your AOS is transfered to your local office or possibly CSC if you are lucky ... If you are transfered to CSC then you will get your GC without an interview (well most cases are) and it will be a rather quickly approval ... In Most cases that are transfered to CSC GC is approved before your EAD/AP ...

The EADs seem to be taking around 80 days for approval right now ... The EAD is good for a year and will have to be renewed if you do not receive your GC before it is expiring ...

Although it is possible to have a quick approval from CSC, also remember some AOS applications get stuck in FBI checks and can take years to be approved ...

Before it said that my case was transfered to CSC... so does this mean it was transfered to a different location or just received at CSC?? However the EAD have not been touched in over a month??

I got the same email ... It means that CSC received your case ...

Your EAD stays at MSC for processing and I would think should be approved soon by the looks of your timeline ...

And if you supply me with your NOA1 date, Biometrics Date and CSC transfer date I can add you to the CSC Transfer List located here :
