Studying while waiting for AOS (K1)

Hello,

My fiance arrived 2 weeks ago on a K1 and our wedding is scheduled for 12/12/2012. Our AOS paperwork is all filled out and ready to go as soon as we have our marriage certificate. I know that it is very clear that he cannot work until receiving EAD a few months after we submit the AOS application, but what about studying? More specifically, studying in a vocational program like medical assisting, EMT, etc? He's not looking to enroll at a university, but it seems like doing some vocational training would be a great idea while waiting for EAD if it is a legal thing to do.

Anyone with experience out there?

Thanks

Many programs/institutions at the community college level or so do not require proof of residency and would be fine. The sticky part about the period before adjustment of status is there isn't enough documentation to prove residency/eligibility.

If it is a private college where you pay high fees, there should be no problem.

If it is a state college, he will likely need to pay "out of state" fees at the least.
