Hi, Congratulations! Have fun in Vegas, we got married there a few weeks ago :)

About the marriage certificate, if you stay a day after you get married you should be able to request it in person (not at the same office where you get your license, but it's easy to find the address in Clark County's website).

We weren't able to stay, we had our flight at noon the next day, but if you can that would be the quickest way.

When you get your license you will also get a form to send in to request marriage certificates at $10 per copy. You can do that right away but it takes about a month to get those copies. You can also request copies from a private document retrieval service, you'll probably get some in the mail or you can just look some up online. We did that too to see what was faster and we got those copies in about 5 days!

So good luck, I can get you the name of that service if you need it. :)

I live here in Vegas and according to the web site marriage records are updated daily but the catch is the person submitting the document has 10 days to submit it to the recorder. Then they update it by midnight that day and it is available for you the next day. There is a search page to see when it is available for you. You can always ask them when they will submit at the chapel you get married in. From that point you can proceed with a private records company or request it on your own. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot both of you for the answer, it's really helpful (thanks for the link also Doug  )

I saw in the guide of visajourney that we can ask to bring the marriage certificate ourself to the recorder's office so maybe we can get our copies right away, that would be great. maybe we should try that.

I saw in the guide of visajourney that we can ask to bring the marriage certificate ourself to the recorder's office so maybe we can get our copies right away, that would be great. maybe we should try that.

We tried this when we got married there in July. The minister actually wouldn't let us do it, despite our rather strong protestations about it. We were most annoyed by the fact that the minister didn't drop off the paperwork until the day after our ceremony. Plus, there is also processing time involved (our min said 5 days). Even if you bring it in yourself, they won't just drop everything and process it immediately. We had to leave the cash with a friend who lives & works nearby, and he was able to pick it up a few days later. By the time he shipped it back to us, we had the rest of the AOS package ready to go... all in all, it was 2 weeks after our marriage that we had all the info and were ready to submit it, when we'd planned to get it out the day after we returned from Vegas. Please note that this is still faster than it would have been had we ordered the certificate copies by mail (30+ days, according to the Clark County website).

Sorry to burst your bubble... you absolutely should try to do this, and I'd be really, really happy for you if it works out for you :) But I strongly recommend that you formulate a contingency plan in advance just in case it doesn't. At the very least, I'd contact the chapel or the minister to see if they are willing to go along with it, and get their opinion on the processing time involved.

good luck, and congrats!

We didn't do a Vegas wedding, but when we got married the minister gladly signed the license and gave it to us after the ceremony. The following Monday we took it to the Probate Court in person and got it certified while we were there. For an extra $5 we got a second certified copy to put in the AOS application. Maybe calling around and finding a minister who will do that? Hope you're able to get it figured out. :)
