I don't think signing the forms is necessary. They come from the IRS with all of his information on it. Someone should correct me if I'm wrong though. I hope I'm right. My wife didn't sign her tax forms when she left them with me when I brought her to Florida. I'm waiting in Canada right now for everything to go through.

You're good. You don't need them signed. make sure he signs your i-134, thats the only form you need his signature.

****** Whatever comments i post are based only on what I've done or experienced during this journey. ******

And we should be here to help each other.

Peace out! =)

The transcripts coming directly from the IRS indicate that the taxes were filed, received, and accepted by the IRS. All information for verification purposes if it were needed is included on the transcript.

So what did he send you?

If he sent you tax transcript then no need to confuse yours truly any further, you have what you need! 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ are forms used for filing individual federal income tax returns

These forms are the filing forms. They are signed when the tax payer files his/her taxes. I use TurboTax to file my taxes online. The program simply generates an electronic document of whichever 1040 applies to me. It receives my electronic signature because there is no printing to be done. However, I have a copy saved. I am printing it out for K-1 purposes. It doesn't need a signature because it was filed and indicates that it was accepted through the online software. If I were to have filed by printing on a paper form, I would have signed it and scanned a copy. I don't know if your fiance filed by printing on paper or filed electronically. The 1040 doesn't even necessarily prove one filed taxes. I can write one out, sign it, and never send it in. Although, e-filing would indicate that my form was sent. I have not read anywhere that states a 1040 must have a signature for the purpose of evidence for the I-134. In my opinion, I think a 1040 (signed or not) with corresponding tax transcript is best proof as the transcript shows the form is filed with the IRS. Transcripts are easy to obtain on the IRS website, free, and only take a couple days to receive.

Transcripts are not signed, but I think you have the tax return and that is OK also. Many people e-file them and they know this. I used e-filed copies of tax returns for everything and had no problem. I simply wrote on them "e-filed return" in the signature area.
