You called her fiance in one post and then wife in another. If you have had some kind of marriage that would be recognized as such by the US government, and then you try to get married again in some other way to make things happen quicker, it could be construed as fraud.

Oh, i'm sorry create so much confusion. We are currently engaged and getting married in November. Do I have any options or do u know if I meet all the requirements to apply for US Citizenship?

Also, does anyone know how long it takes after getting married to receive the marriage certificate in Montreal when doing a civil union? Thanks again everyone!

Post #4 provided a link with all the requirements for citizenship.

You can't do it any other way. If you don't meet the requirements, you can't apply for citizenship.

Hi, does anyone know what the average time would be right now for a permanent resident applying a Canadian citizen for a us visa? Also, does anyone know if a marriage certificate is issued immediately following a marriage or is there a specific time period that I need to wait before requesting a copy? Thanks again!

Thanks so much for the reply Asia. I have a question regarding the I-864 (Affidavit of Support). Since I started working only in July 2012 and have not made very much income before, my income tax amounts don't amount to anything. Will this effect me? If yes, do I need to indicate a sponsor (i.e. my dad or brother)? Also, how do I indicate this? Thanks so much again. Btw, sorry for all the questions.
