you should get your passport by 10th or 12th, US holidays does not matter as your passport leaves same day with DHL.

I agree US holidays doesnt matter once the embassy dispatches the passport.

I know couple of VJ members whose passports they have not received yet, interview was on 5th October, and today is the 4th working day for embassy. Lets see if they get any news today.

I also know one of my my friend who had filed for her brother and sister, their interview was on 9th October, they were given and option to pay Rs 300 and get the passport delivered at home, and they got the passport delivered on 11th October.

I hope I also get that option so once embassy dispatches the passport, the US olidays and saturdays will be fruitful. Fingers crossed.

When do you plan to book the ticket?

Yes you are right, but do you know how long does it take for consulate to dispatch the passport? My wife's interview is on the 8th and 9th is Friday, after that it is the weekend and holidays till the 15th. I was thinking to book the ticket for the 20th evening. But after reading a report of the Delhi Embassy not getting passport till now. I am a bit worried.

I posted my question on MUmbai Consulate page regsrding missing Case numbers and date, they told me that they have posted all cases for which they have received file from NVC, so we all missing folks need to contact NVC and ask them when they are going to send our file to consulate.

following is the answer from consulate:

Dear Mr. Gupta:

Thank you for your question. We are happy to know that your petition for a CR-1 visa will be received by the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai for consular processing.

When the priority dates of immigrant visa applications become current, the National Visa Center schedules immigrant visa appointments and sends the files to us for consular processing. At this time, we have received files only for those immigrant visa beneficiaries whose case numbers and appointment slots are listed on our website for November 2012. If you do not find your case number in the list at this time at http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/interview_appt_schedule.html, please review our website in early November for more updates. In the meantime, please make sure that you have all the documents ready for the interview. We wish you luck for your upcoming interview, and look forward to seeing you at the Consulate soon.

I agree, its much better option. Ny friend's sister who got this option she told me that they charged Rs 300.

To confirm this today i called the helpline number from ustraveldocs.com - 022 67209400 and the rep told me that they have this service. She said there will be a counter named as premium services there you can approach them, she didnt have any further information on how much charge, etc but at least got to know that they have the option to get the passport delivered at home. In addition to that if embassy dispatches on friday or so then even on saturday we can expect the delivery at home as courier people do not maintain US holidays or saturdays. I happy to hear that. :)

I was not aware of it either but considering the postal services in india, the added on delay in recieving it at home and God forbid but if any descrepancy on Visa information then I would prefer a VFS location pick up.

it is same thing either pick from Blue dart office in your city or let blue dart deliver it to your home, i like second option as you dont have to worry about showing ID etc..

Also, were you able to fix your profile there?

My interview is on 7th November, I will book the ticket for 21st evening so at least I will have 7 working days to get the passport/visa (after removing all holidays and weekends).

NVC has only sent files to Indian Consulate for Nov 1-19 only, people who have interviews Nov 20-30 our files are with NVC only that is the reason our case# is not on the US Consulate site, NVC will be sending our file last week of october to india and list will be updated 1st week of november.

my profile is not fixed yet.
