I wonder if he is saying it because he want us to buy more expensive ticket?? I don't know may be i am totally wrong. I called British airway(Ticket is through British airway) and asked the question but They have no idea about this issue at all. what should i do?? please help me out i need to book a ticket as soon possible since price is going up now. :(

The Lonely Planet website has some forum discussion about this topic as well. That is where I found that link.

I found this. Transit visa If you come to the UK as a visitor in transit, you cannot extend your permission to stay beyond 48 hours.

But i can not find anywhere about layover of more then 8hours for Green card holder of America. can u give me the link of the forum you are reading?

18 hours layover? Could be too much for your travel. Find a different flight, and I believe, you can get the best price, and may have better flight. Compare the flights from these sites:

indianeagle.com

See what can be done. Recently I booked my flight thru Indianeagle, and spoke to their customer care, and was able to bargain the price, and got a good flight at great price.

I don't think it matters that you are a green card holder of the US.

The most important thing is what nationality you are/have and if that requires a visa to the UK.
