In Texas, as in most states, in order to apply for a marriage license, both my fiancee and I have to provide a Social Security Number. Will the Alien Registration number be acceptable or am I missing something?

Thanks for any help.

They are two completely different things.

And also, you may want to speak to the court clerk and ask, specifically, if you would need an SS# to get married. Based on other people's situation here on VJ, after calling, even though it said everywhere they needed an SS#, they didn't need one after all.

Welcome to the forum.

I wouldn't have any idea about Texas state marriage laws, and it seems that you aren't too familiar with Washington state marriage laws.

My wife and I applied for and received our Washington state marriage license the same day she had her POE in Seattle. We were married four days later. Due to snafus at the Customs and Burro Patrol, she didn't receive her SSN until six weeks later.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

YMMV

This is exactly the information I was looking for. Thanks. I'm in Changxian, China right now but will be back in Houston next week and will give them a call.
