International Wedding Gifts

Hi,

J and I are currently organising our UK based engagement party and have been asked what we would like as gifts and that has got me thinking about wedding gifts too (when the K1 visa finally arrives we're hoping for February...!).

So what are good gift ideas that i can suggest to my UK relatives? I don't want bulky items to have to ship over to the States. What did others ask for?

There is always money (though I feel a bit awkward asking for that)

Or gift cards - but I don't know which American stores will accept UK credit cards online (any suggestions?)

Alternative gifts we are thinking of is

a favourate recipe to go in a recipe book for us to keep

or I would like pictures of my friends and family to take with me in a photo album

Anyone else have any ideas? either traditional or alternative gifts?

Are you planning on a honeymoon? A few of the resorts that we have been looking at have honeymoon gift registries so people can buy you things like a spa treatment, dinner, breakfast in bed, chocolate covered strawberries!!!

Wedding gift registry at Target. They can purchase online, pay with UK credit card and it will be delivered to you US home.

We got quite a few Amazon.com gift cards also a British cook book,union jack apron/tea towels.....a few prints of the area we married(Edinburgh)all light weight.

Look into Walmart giftcards too.....not sure if you can get them via a UK credit card.Good luck!!!

If you're in the US, you can walk around the Target store with an electronic gun and shoot the shelf barcode of anything you like. Or you can create it online here http://www.target.com/np/wedding-registry/-/N-564tj?registryType=R&originalEventType=WD

Other stores do wedding registries, but I'm certain Target works well from the UK. Before he lived here, my husband bought wedding gifts on two occasions for young American friends of ours. He was pleased to find a tea kettle and a dartboard on the registries so picked those.
