I-864 Technical Question

Hi all...

I am filing out the good ole I-864 (affidavit of support) form...I might have an issue.

While I recently became a full time W2 employee at a company, for the last 3+ years, I was a 1099 self employed worker.

So in Step 23 & 24c, I can put my current annual income of $50,000 (not real, just showing i am way over the $18k limit).

But in Step 25, when I list my previous 3 years of adjusted incomes, each is below the $18,000 limit because I have a number of write offs/deductions each year as a 1099 employee.. I made well over $18,000 each year, but because of my write-offs/deductions, this number was brought below $18,000.

Is this a problem?

Thanks for your help!

If youre asking me...yes, it is current gross income.

No no. I was verifying something added to what Gary mentioned. I asked because of your concerns with write offs and such. Your concern is gross income though.

why are you required to fill out an I-864 for a K-1 visa?

I'm confused.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
