Hi all,

As the timeline below shows, we filed and had it delivered successfully last week. Over the weekend, we've realised that Question #22 on the I-130 actually asks for the city and state where I, the non-citizen, is currently located. The language of the question is slightly ambiguous, so we'd entered Chicago/IL since that's where we're *filing*. How serious is this?

Beyond that, how long does it take for USCIS to cash the checks? We used cashier's checks. And, some people seem to receive their NOA very promptly, while it can take up to 10 days for others. Any pattern? When should we begin to get concerned?

  • 08/19/2005 – Entered U.S. as student. F1 visa, D/S.

  • Late, late 2007 – Met M (on a Harry Potter fan chat of all things. Curiously, neither of us are big HP fans.)

2009 – Graduated, awarded post-completion OPT (1 year).

2010 – Began M.A. program.

2011 – Graduated, awarded post-completion OPT (1 year).

06/25/2012 – Marriage.

09/6/2012, Day 0 – AOS filing submitted via Fedex overnight to Chicago lockbox (I-130, I-485, I-765).

09/7/2012, Day 1 – AOS filing delivered, signed for by J. Chyba.

09/11/2012, Day 5 – Received NOA1 for all three forms filed via text message, with hard copy to follow.

09/17/2012, Day 11 – Received NOA1 hard copies for all three forms and received biometrics appointment [10/4/2012].

10/4/2012, Day 28 – Completed biometrics.

10/20/2012, Day 44 – Received text notification of interview appointment [11/26/2012].

10/22/2012, Day 46 – Received hard copy notification of interview appointment [Holtsville field office, 11/26/2012].

11/26/2012, Day 81 – Interview completed. EAD and I-485 card production ordered same day. I-130 no change.

12/03/2012, Day 88 – Received EAD and Permanent Resident Card (green card). Resident since 11/26/12.

11/25/2014, ROC filing submitted via Fedex overnight to Vermont Service Center (I-751 + supporting evidence).

11/26/2014, NOA receipt date.

01/09/2015, Completed biometrics.

08/03/2015, Received RFE, deadline to respond Oct. 29.

10/28/2015, Sent off RFE response via Fedex overnight.

11/13/2015, Received I-551 stamp in Manhattan field office, validity 1 year.

02/04/2016, Received I-797 Notice of Action confirming removal of conditional permanent residence status. Date of decision was 01/28/2016.

My husband put my/our current location on that field, despite the fact that we're applying through Chicago...because I read they transfer the files to the local office for the interview etc.. but I dont think that will delay your process.. I'm not very informed about it, but from what I understand so far, the worst case scenario would be you having your interview in Chicago...

09/07/2012 - Mailed AOS package (I-130,I-485,I-765) via USPS Express Mail.

09/10/2012 - Package delivered by USPS.

09/12/2012 - Email notification received.

09/17/2012 - NOAs for I-130, I-485 and I-765 received in the mail.

09/20/2012 - Biometrics appt scheduled for 10/04/2012.

10/04/2012 – Biometrics completed.

11/02/2012 - Interview scheduled for 12/04/2012.

11/14/2012 - 1st text EAD approved/production.

11/19/2012 - 2nd text EAD approved/production.

11/20/2012 - EAD mailed.

11/24/2012 - EAD received.

12/04/2012 - Interview..approved, thank God! :D

You were supposed to put the City and State where you currently Iive not your filing location since they transfer your file to your local office when interview time comes

Day 8.... 08/14/12- Check cleared

Day11... 08/17/12- I797C, NOA biometric appt received. Scheduled date 08/31/12 @ 12:00

Day16....08/22/12- Biometric appt completed.... Early walk-in less than 15 minutes

Day16....08/22/12- Received NOA hard copies in the mail for I-130, I-485, I-765

Day38....09/13/12- Received text notification for interview. Scheduled date 10/18/10

Day40....09/15/12- Received hard copy for interview. Scheduled 10/18/12 @ 12:45 Holtsville NY

Day61....10/06/12- Received text notification about EAD card production

Day66....10/11/12- Received 2nd and 3rd text notification about EAD card in production

Day67....10/12/12- Received notification card was picked up by USPS

Day70....10/15/12- Received EAD card in the mail. I'm loving it

Day72....10/17/12- Went to SS Office to apply for card

Day73....10/18/12- Interview day!!!! Approved

Day77....10/22/12- Received approval letters for I-130 and I-485. Got SS card

Day78....10/23/12- Got 2 text msgs about card production

If I can poke my nose in here...

The OP asked this in the case progress section and I suggested she ask here where she might get more help. I don't the answer.

But if I understand her correctly, she KNOWS she screwed up. She needs to know how to fix it, or if it even needs to be fixed.

Anyone?

What DandT14 said is correct. We're already aware that it ought to have reflected our present location. What we'd like to know is whether this is something that needs to be taken care of, or whether it could delay our process somehow. If as someone else said the worst that may happen is an interview in Chicago, then that's probably not much of an issue.
