Hi. Im very new and will about to send i-129 packet I have several questions I hope anyone of you can help. 1. I lived in the states for a J1 visa, specifically in Memphis for a year, how do yoi get a police clearance? And my american fiancé needs to get it too? 2. My American fiancé lost his birth certificate, but he has a passport and we printed each pages of his passport including front and back, is that okay for I-129F and will get a copy while waiting? 3. I am 23 and he is 42. Does it matter? We dont really feel thr age gap, but do they care? 4. For Filipinos, do I need to get a Cenomar in Pasig right before the interview? Or I can get it ahead of time via online? 5. How long does is usually take to get done with the process? I appreciate y'all. And thank you in advance for helping.

Cenomar, police clearance documents before the interview, I think the guideline is within 6 months so not knowing when your interview will take place, best to wait a bit for it.

USC won't have to get a police clearance, USCIS will run a background check on him but he needs to report things even if the record was expunged.

Thank you for the response. This is so overwhelming and useful. May I know about the birth certificate? Is passport okay for I-129 F packet? Or do need to get one?

Your American fiance is the one that needs to prove citizenship when he files the application, and he can do so with copies of his entire passport (exactly the way you said you copied it) OR with his birth certificate.

You, however, will not need to present your birth certificate until you reach the interview stage at the Embassy. I suggest you visit the regional part of the forums to learn about the specific things you will need to do later on. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

When it comes to the Police Certificates, as Cathy pointed it out, you will not need one from the US if you ever lived here.

Absolutely! That's what we are all here for.

Just make sure your read the guide http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide .. it's very clear and you'll see that what you need to get started is much less than what you think.

The first impression of this process, and the amount of paperwork it takes, are so overwhelming it's easy to get a headache!

I have a question too about obtaining a parental advise since I am 23. It says in the website that I have to have it signed and notarized. Can I go to any notarizing firm? or I have to go to a registrar's office local? The problem is none of my parents knew about this yet, I was told to be offered for a working visa and it didnt work out. Me and fiancé decided to go ahead and get me through k1. Is there any advice you can render? Planning to tell my parents when I get the visa.

You should really ask that at the Philippines part of the forum. The parental advise doesn't apply to most countries and, even for those who have it, they each have their own ways and rules. good.gif

EDIT: I just moved your new post called CFO to the Philippines part of the forum. You won't need to start a new post there.
