i really hope this topic is in the right place, cause i'm soooo stressed right now that i could really use some friendly advice.

my husband and i have been married for 7 years now, and thankfully are finally going for our green card interview tomorrow morning.

i've been so busy for the last month, trying to get everything ready to go, that i feel mentally drained.

i know i should have written these questions much sooner, but i've been so focused on getting all our forms and evidence put together that things like this have just slipped my mind.

i, of course, very much would like to make sure that i have everything and anything that we might need for tomorrow, so i was wondering if anyone on here might be able to tell us:

what are the mandatory papers that we must take with us?

and

what are some things that are recommended we take?

so far, in terms of evidence, i have our marriage certificate (again), 28 emails that we wrote each other, during his last 2 deployments to iraq, dating from 2004-2010, 16 birthday, christmas, easter and anniversary cards from various family members and friends, at least 4 years worth of joint tax forms, letters from our parents testifying to the legitimacy of our marriage, rental agreements from the last 2 apartments we lived in, at least 30-40 pictures of us with family, dating from 2005-2012, and at least one receipt with both our names on it, from a wedding gift we bought my cousin this month.

please let me know if there's anything else i'm missing, evidence-wise, and any and all mandatory forms and documents that are a must.

thank you in advance to any who reply!

You seem to have more than enough, relationship evidence-wise. Do you also have ALL the other documents listed in the interview letter?

One advice I would give you is to organize all those documents so they are easy to find, and to READ REVIEWS on VJ from members who had their interview at the same local USCIS as you. If you didn't do it yet, go here: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/

thank you for the link. i'll start reading stuff from that as soon as i'm done printing off my copies of everything.

as for what i MUST take, on the interview notice it says to bring "All documentation establishing your eligibility for Lawful Permanent Resident Status."

i'm assuming those are just copies of the forms we already sent in, yes?

the I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765? a medical exam and affidavit for support were already sent in, so those aren't needed again, according to the interview notice.

i apologize if these are stupid questions. i just like to be as thorough as possible.

p.s. thank you, jason! :)

Who woke up first this morning? Did an alarm clock go off?

Did you or your spouse take a shower?

Did you come to the interview together? Who drove?

Did you have breakfast? Where and what did you eat?

but, obviously, there could be so much more that we're not aware of.

if anyone has been asked something that isn't on that list, please let us know what it is. thanks to 3 deployments to iraq, my husband doesn't have the greatest memory, and needs time to study up on the small details of our lives.

thanks again for any and all help.

"All documentation establishing your eligibility for Lawful Permanent Resident Status" = proof that you entered the country legally (visa?), marriage certificate, etc...

Take any document you think may be useful (it doesn't hurt to have too much), and have ALL the docs in the interview letter list.

Even if you sent some docs, have some other copies with you. Again, better have too much with you than no enough.

Concerning the questions, they may not ask you complicated questions. If the Officer believes your case is good and your relationship bonafide, he/she may only ask you how you met. That was our case. If he/she has doubt, they ask you more questions.

If your relationship is real, do not worry too much. Questions will be naturally easy to answer. :) Plus they will see your husband was out of the country for some time and so they will understand if he doesn't know some things.

Relax, have all your docs organized, and be confident and sincere in your answers. :)

UPDATE!

well, we went for our 7am interview and it went very well :) the agent interviewing us was very nice. professional, of course, but wasn't above joking around a little to take the edge off of the situation.

we were in his office for about 15-20 minutes, then were told that we should hear back about their decision within 10-12 days.

just out of curiosity, i checked my status before going to bed last night and noticed that we were approved and my card is now in production! woo!^^

i'm so happy this is finally over. now, in 2 years and 9 months, i can apply for US citizenship :P

i do have a question now, regarding the length of time it'll take for my card to get here (30 days).

the manager of our apartment complex offered me the assistant manager position, which i would love to accept.

what i'm wondering is if i'm allowed to accept work, without physically having my card with me, or if i have to wait till i actually get it in the mail?

if i can't accept the job without the card, is there anything i can do that would help me?

It won't take that long now that you got the first Card production update. I got my card after 8 days!

I don't know exactly when you can start working, but I guess you can let the manager know that your green card is coming soon, and ask him when does he would like you to start! :)

and... Congrats!!!!

the manager wants me to start on the 4th. if i tell her that i have to wait till i get my card, i can guarantee you that she'll be pissed off, and may just tell me to forget it.

when i told my husband that my status had it listed as possibly taking up to 30, HE got pissed off that i might not to able to accept the job and has been giving me the silent treatment since last night ~~'

am i allowed to go back to the immigration office and ask them to stamp my passport, or ask for a temp card, or a piece of paper that will allow me to work till the real thing gets here?

Technically, the start date on your green card will be yesterday (knowing that you had the card production email), so I would say you can start working... Waiting for someone more experienced here to answer you.
