Adjusting status on a tourist visa

I feel like this too now.

At the time I knew that plenty of people were adjusting from the VWP and they had intent (although they probably didn't admit it.

I decided to do it the legal way and not risk it - plus I'm a worrier too so would have been a very tense few months.

So we married in the UK and filed for CR1. But then we got caught up in the 2007/2008 backlog which was a crazy time - NOA1 took over 90 days alone. NOA2 took ten months.

I wish we had taken the 'easy' route.

Well my 2 cents. You know truth be told I really wonder how many of us on VJ and the world going through this thought of what you are saying? How many of us really knew imiigration law (heck most of us can get a law dregee in by now).

I know for me and my husband we were like most Americans at least you marry your spouse comes to America right. How many of us are asked by family and friends "where is your husband your wife. You know they can just come here they are married to you now".

We planned a wedding, had the whole thing booked in Vegas (Treasure Island). Heck we were so naive we knew nothing of High Fraud embassy Nigeria. We thought you want to visit the US heck why not we like visitors. When he was denied it was heart breaking. Plane ticket already bought. So I went there and stayed 6 months and while there we got married and started researching Visas (like What the heck!!) and a friend mentioned VisaJourney. OMG we would have been in BIG trouble.

You may can Adjust Status from Canada or UK or other VWP's but Nigeria, Pakistan! you know you never hear folk say they were successful from those places.

Well anyway we are doing it I guess the right painful way. And as much as I just hate (really just jealous) reading folk AOS from a Tourist Visa I know I would if I could and have no immoral thought about it. Just saying!:innocent:

Wow,the times my husband and I have been asked that!!!! When we first met 4 years ago we honestly and stupidly thought I'd just be able to catch a plane and go live in the US and live happily ever after.

I still dont think Id ever have gone any other route than having to stay apart from my husband whilst the visa is processed though, even a slight chance of ending up with a ban or whatever just wouldnt have been worth the risk in my case.

It does surprise me a bit that attourneys even suggest AOS via visitors visa though.....is that true?
