with EAD card in hand, you be a Legal Alien allowed to work. <EOM>

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

The second(or minute or hour or day) that you have the EAD, you can run off to the SSA and apply :) You don't have to wait a week - that's mostly for people who just entered the country.

thanks for the reply...

i received my EAD last thurs can i apply this thurs for my SSN or do you think its too soon???

I received my EAD last Saturday and applied for SSN today.

It was a very tiring trip for me because the address on the internet is not current so I have to find their new location

Luckily I was able to find it but because it was in a Federal Building it ended up like an airport security.

What I did is I printed the application form from home and then they will just ask you what are you there for and they will ask you to get a number, and cellphones should be turned off no food or drinks allowed based on where I applied my SSN

I presented my EAD and lady asked for another form of identification so I gave my passport she encoded it and then gave me a receipt that says you should receive your SS Card within 2 weeks :o
