I came here on K1 visa and became eligible to file for citizenship in May 2012. The problem is I have been out of US for 4 times for several months. If I total all those months, it will amount to not less than 10 months. Just after I came to USA, I learned that my father has Pancreatic cancer and I used to take frequent trips to take care of him. Now I am in USA and do not need to go out of the country as my father passed away last year.

Would I have any issue after filing N400 ? This is the what I am referring to : In Part 7, (A), there is a question - "write the total number of days you spend outside of the US during the last five years."

thanks for your valued replies !

They could ask. You have a legitimate answer. Don't worry.

I'm sure you can provide evidence.

Based on your post, I believe you are safe. I made four trips in the last 4 years for various reasons. Right after I got my green card, my first trip was four months long. I have no worries for my upcoming interview. You had a legit reason to be away. Your cultural background isn't much different than mine and we have VERY strong ties to our families and communities. Check your passport and add up the days from all your trips outside the USA. You should be able to check e dates of your travel from your passport stamps as well. Good Luck.
