Hello!

Im having trouble finding any more information on

what I need to declare my rights to live and work

in the states under the Jay treaty.

Firstly I was told I could apply at the local US embassy

for my S.I.N# being that technically I am a permanent resident

of both Canada and the U.S. (My cousin told me this but it could be untrue)

I have all the documents that I know of which are:

My letter of Blood Quantum. (Says I am 50% or more native american and that

both my parents are also 50% or more native american)

Have my new native status card.

My long version of my birth certificate as well as my newly

issued birth certificate.

Lastly my passport.

I dont know if I need anything else but my biggest question is how do I declare my intention to

move to the states. Ive decided to have my parents drive me down and I will walk across. (Hopefully)

I will be staying with my hubby and his family but what exactly do I need to make sure I can come and

go back and forth across the border. I had read on another forum about an Alien number that I will need at the time

of processing at the border and have it stamped into my passport.

Please any help will be VERY welcome! and MOST APPRECIATED!!!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this!

The best place to ask for specifics is the US Embassy in Canada. They should be able to walk you through the steps. Here is their webpage on the matter. http://canada.usembassy.gov/visas/information-for-canadians/first-nations-and-native-americans.html

I also know in my state there is a Native American law resource center. Is there one near you you can contact? It looks like you just go with your documents and declare your intention to move to the US, but of course you want to know what to expect. Good luck.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

From what I've read you have your ducks in a row.

Good luck in what looks like a very quick journey for you!
