i need some collective input here.

when is the best time to buy air ticket? i am flying jfk-hkg. today i saw a $150 price jump and that is crazy! any insider tips?

Did you try to check with different dates +/-3? If you are flexible with dates, then you can get the best deal anytime.

I just looked for JFK to HKG for ONE WAY ticket thru United Airlines, their ticket price start from $735 USD. I noticed, if you book the ticket for Aug 26th, then you can get the best price $735 but tickets for Dec ( around Christmas time ), it is expensive, like $1000 or more! would be more expensive later.

P.S. - It all depend up to airlines. Sometimes one airline most of tickets are sold out, and then if you consider to buy then ticket can be expensive, while other airline may have awesome base price ( starting price ), and you can book with them!

this doesnt make any sense. ua cost $1163 for 24hr flight and cx cost $1400 for 16hr flight. all round trips.

Round trips are cheaper!

If you are talking about lowest price, then I checked, they have round trip lowest price at $1091 USD thru United Airlines

I checked this price for the dates:

Depart: Sep 5th

Return: Sep 11th

mah wife's interview date is 9/6... no way i will travel there for two weeks and expect visa to be issued on time. i was thinking more of november or october for ultra low prices. but looks just talking about "iran war" just drive crude oil crazy up. and then you have people predicting gold bullion to be $2000 high. rich people in this economy needs to stop hording cash and start making fat cash flows.

Nov seems kind of expensive, and Dec is extra expensive! But I have to travel in Nov! So I will buy at whatever best price is available!

ima frontline worker... vacation at will is rather difficult.

i like to bring my wife with me. and possible bear witness of potential abuse so i can sue them to get some $$$$$$$ compensation. :rofl:

you are absolutely correct. last tues & wednesday was cheaper. i am also waiting on what darnell said to see if purchase after sept 5 would be cheaper.

but much of the news on website are posting that airfares are going up. =(

My advice... By the ticket when you have the money.....

I have never seen great savings in 20+ years of traveling. I have seen tickets go up and wish that I had bought them sooner.
