My annual salary is approx $10,000/. My wife is a house wife. Now, I want you to help me that how can i show the "affidavit of support"?

and as go through this forum i have seen that other people can also sponsor you. Please tell me how is it possible and how this can be done.

Thankful to you all

**** Moving from Bringing Family to CR-1 forum ****

Unless your work continues from the same source when you move to the US, your income is meaningless. You have three options:

- your wife moves back now and gets a job- may be difficult in this economy.

- She sponsors you on assets (savings, 401k, second home etc). Must have 3x the income required.

- A joint sponsor- a US citizen or greencard holder living in the US willing to stand guarantoor for you. They need not be family or live near where you'll live in the US.

Thanks for your kind reply.

Would you please tell me where can i get more information about the sponsor?

Also please tell me 3x income is equal to how many dollars?

Thanks again

Go to USCIS.gov then click on Forms. The forms you need I-864, I-864 Instructions, and I-864p The I-864p will tell you the income requirement but for a household of two, it's just under $19,000 so $57,000 would be needed in liquid assets to qualify that way. Otherwise, you need a qualified joint sponsor who earns enough for their own family size plus you. See the I-864p.

Thanks,

Is there a possibility that i apply for K3 visa, go to US, and get some job so that my wife doesnt has to show any affidavit of support?

Please reply

NO. First, the K3 visa is not longer available. Second, even when it was, an affidavit of support, with the same income requirements was required. (My wife came on a K3 visa in 2006.) Sounds like you'll need a joint sponsor unless your wife comes back to the USA and gets a job prior to the affidavit being needed.

hmm.. thanks.

How many people can sponsor you. is it necessary that a US Citizen sponsor us? or any one can do that?

and does he/she has to be relative to us?

Any US Citizen or US Permanent resident. It's best to find one sponsor or one couple/family to be the joint sponsor.

If a single individual who lives alone is co-sponsoring an immigrant, would the "household size" be 2 (two)???

Also, what should be compared to the 125% of poverty level: gross or net income?

Yes, 2 is correct. Use gross income. For the self employed, it is "total income" from line 22 of the 2011 1040 form.
