I came to US and got married 2007 but things between me and my ex husband didn't work so we got divorced on 2011. I been using his last name til we got divorced. I decided to change it back from my last name when I was single, I already change my last name on my social security, drivers license and other documents into my last name when i was single but I haven't change the last name on my green card. I wanna file my citizenship this year and I dnt know what to do. Can I file citizenship now or I have to change my last name on my green card?

edit (thats what i get for reading just the subject) - I was never asked for my SS card during the naturalization process, however, you should go to the SS office and get that corrected, not really a big deal.

Did you actually change your name legally, and have the form (petition of name change signed by the court) to prove it? If so you should be able to use that green card and just send in a copy of the name change. You can just list your married name as other names used.

If you didn't get it changed legally and just went back to using maiden name you can change it during the naturalization process.

Divorce is a situation when you're allowed to change your last name without having to have a name change done, same as marriage.

Simply write your maiden name on your naturalisation paperwork. Make sure you put your former married name in "other names used" on the form and provide a copy of your divorce decree to show how you changed your last name.

Not a big deal at all.
