Really, do I get interest?

So I noticed my bank pulled my initial $340 for the k1 visa. I mailed it on the 7th. I know there is going to be a long wait and have made peace with that which sucks. But how does it make sense to cash a check before the process and sit on that money until they decide to do something with it? If you go to the DMV you don't pay them then bring your documents out to find out you forgot something. No they tell you right away you forgot something, you come back with everything and eventually get what you need and then you pay for it right before they print the license. If they cashed your check what incentive do they have to do the work? True they do the same thing with taxes, but at least someone with some business sense can adjust what is taken out to be as close as possible so they aren't sitting on thousands of dollars of over paid taxes. I thought that was very odd when I saw that, I didn't expect it to be pulled for months. It took longer to cash my concealed weapons permit and that only takes a couple weeks to get the final product. I guess I don't have to worry if they received it though, so that's the glass is half full approach. So now I have to wait a few months while they have a pizza party with my money... ha ha.

As soon as they opened the envelope and assigned a case number your fee was incurred. That has already been done. Did you ever think you would pay so much to get a number ?
