Hi,

I am done with my first day of medical exam at St. Lukes last friday and they instructed me to do my immunization on Monday. Can anybody help me understand the process or the medical exam? I am confused because I am not sure if I need to do to the sputum test or not and how will I know if I have to do that or not too.

You will do the sputum test if they tell you to based on what they see on an X-ray. If they told you to come back on Monday for your shots, then you are probably ok.

Thank you for your inputs. I just want to get these things done, do my interview and CFO thingy and be with my fiance.

Sounds like it's a good sign, them telling you to come back on Monday for immunizations. But you will know for sure come Monday, when you give your receipt (with the date and time to return stamped at the back) to the guard and he puts in a stamp that says "for immunization".

If you need to undergo the sputum exam, you will NOT be told to go for immunization, but instead will be given instructions on when to return for the 3-day sputum collection.

My fiancé went for medical last week also and pretty much what everyone else is telling is correct. If they told you to come back for immunization is because everything is looking good. When you go back on Monday and they are taking hours to give you the results don't panic like we did. It took my fiancée four hours to get the results. Relax and good luck to you.

Hi! anybody who knows about "civil surgeon" letter whatever, that they need to give you after your exam was done? any note about it?

****** Whatever comments i post are based only on what I've done or experienced during this journey. ******

And we should be here to help each other.

Peace out! =)

What you get from SLEC is not a civil surgeon's letter, just a slip that shows completion of medical and immunizations. If a foreigner arrives in the US and completes AOS within one year of the SLEC medical, and there were no problems with the medical, the civil surgeon's letter is not needed (at least for K-1 visa holders). Not sure if it would be required after one year, but it might.
