Well, to start off, me and my fiance have been together for 3 and a half years now. I have visited him in Peru 5 times in the past two years. He is unable to visit me in the US because he doesnt have a visa. He's never been outside of Peru ( I dont know if that will affect anything once we do the K1 visa). I'm 20 and hes 31, which i know is a big gap.

I honestly dont know much about this process for the K1 visa but we definatley don't want to keep continuing the way we are; which is me visiting him 2x a year. Our choices were to file to K1 visa or for me to move to Peru once I graduate from university. But I would much prefer if he were able to come live in the US.

I already know that I must have a job to show that I can support him once he comes. I've also kept all my flight tickets through the years.

Also, most of our conversations when we aren't together are through MSN or QQ Messenger which has saved conversation Histories. We don't use the phone to call eachother since it costs money and its free on the internet.

I guess my main question is, what other steps or evidence should we prepare for the fiance visa?

Anything could help!

My fiance visa just got approved yesterday.... I kept everything from day one... even though i didnt know it would go this far there was just something in me that told me to keep things. Remember that any pics you take together need to have a date on them, is better to have a printed date on the front but a writen date and where the pic was taken on the back is good too. basicaly you want to send in everything you have to be able to prove your relationship with him. I have a blog that i do and i printed that of the internet and sent that into the USCIS too as evidence of our relationship too...

everything you need to trun in will need to be duplicated and turned into peru too remember that... so make 3 copies of all your evidence... one for your records, one for him to turn in, and one for the USCIS too.... but that web site that was given to you is a good site too...

good luck

To get the process going it is really pretty simple, you only need to prove a few things. First that you are a US citizen, so need a copy of your birth certificate OR all pages of your passport. Second, that you both are legally free and willing to marry within 90 days of his arrival, so need copies of divorce decrees (if applicable) and a letter of intent to marry from both of you. Finally, you need a statement of how you met within the last 2 years AND proof (airline boarding passes, passport stamps, photos, ticket stubs, etc.)

My packet contained:

I-129f form

G-325a form with passport size photo (2 forms, one for each of us)

copy of all pages of my passport

copy of my divorce decree

letters of intent to marry (2 letters, one for each of us)

proof of having met within the last 2 years (boarding passes, itineraries, passport stamps, photos, ticket stubs)

I also included evidence of our relationship, although it is NOT required but sometimes it helps.

Good luck on your journey, and the K-1 guide (linked above) is a very helpful tool.

Thanks for everyone's input, I really appreciate it.

For those who have had success with their K1 Visa, about how much did everything cost in total by the end?

This is kind of though to answer as experiences vary. It is hard to determine the total you will spend because you have to factor in things like the photocopies you will make, documents you may send to one another, the passport photos, legal documents that may come with a price, trip to the beneficiary/petitioner country, hotels etc. This is all dependent on your personal circumstances. However, this is a list of the fees we will all pay to get our loved ones here up to the adjustment of status:

I129F petition filing fee= $340

K-1 Visa Application fee= $240

Adjustment of Status(conditional resident)= $1070

...so you are looking at a total of $1650 just to get your SO over here, become a legal resident, and fulfill the expectations of K-1 entry. More fees will ensue down the road as you remove conditions for permanent residency and/or naturalization.

..forgot to mention that medical fee. That one varies, but that is an expected $200-300 give or take.

Lucy, I also kept in touch with my husband via MSN. I just printed the history log of when we logged on and off and sent that in. It seemed to suffice for their needs (since it's essentially just like a call log I'd say).

Total elapsed time between filing I-129F to GC in hand 569 days or 1 Year, 6 months, 22 days.
