Heya VJ,

With scheduling the interview, how much flexibility is there? i am not sure if our situation poses a problem or not.

Because of the nature of my DH's job (being a teacher), he is contracted until the school year ends. Now I was imagining with a wonderful situation where we get things done quickly, which could potentially put us interviewing more than 6 months from when he could actually depart. This would present a problem for us to get him here in allotted time frame.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Well, for IR-1/CR-1 visa applicants in Egypt, you don't choose an interview date; NVC assigns one for you. If you don't like the date scheduled for your case, you can contact the embassy in Egypt and re-schedule your date to a later one.

My husband I were not ready to depart for the US until well over a year from the NOA2 date (He is finishing his degree). So we took our time at NVC in order to accomodate our moving plans. NVC gives you a year time frame to continue with the process. If they receive no correspondance whatsoeverfor for a year is when they begin the withdrawl process. Every countries time frame, and each case is different. Check timelines for Egypt. Give yourself the time you need but not too much:)) If our timing works out as planned we will be departing for the US close to the 6 month mark. Good luck!!

I have seen that it is, but I think with my husband already having a 5yr B2 and also having been a student in the US several years ago, that things are (I hope and pray!) not going to involve a lot of complications. They already know who he is.

Thanks for the reply. It helps to be prepared and know what to expect!
