You recreate the document in English. If you aren't confident then have her take it to someone to get a translation there. It won't be expensive.

If you prefer, there is a Vietnamese Government Office called "the department of external relations", which should translate them for you for a small fee ($5 or so). You can then get them notarized / authenticated at the US consulate or Embassy for a rather large fee ($50 per document).

You or your friend's wife can ask the US consulate in HCMC for more information if you are in Vietnam. If it's your friend's wife, make sure she brings her passport and goes to the US consulate Monday to Thursday from 8:30-11:30 to the "American Citizen Services" section.

Hello All,

I need to translate my own birth certificate from Vietnamese to English and I can't find a sample anywhere. Would someone mind posting their samples so I can take a look?

Thanks.

Here you go. I have it in Word (.docx) format and can convert it to earlier versions of Word if you wish. PM me if you want a copy.
