Considering Moving to Dominican Republic but waiting for CR1 process?

I am considering moving back to Dominican Republic which means my wife and kids will be staying there with me as well. This is just a thought, nothing written in stone. I am wondering what I would have to do in order to have them get there visas? Since we haven't been married for more than 2 yrs I suppose they will get conditional visas. I would like to know how long can they remain out of the country at any given time and if this will be an issue when requesting removal of condition. Any info or suggestions will greatly be appreciated. It is either that or fly back and forth since I have some business in Dominican Republic that I will have to dedicate more time to. Thanks in advance.

INCREDIBLE HOW NEARLY 50 PEOPLE read but not one comment. I called and asked around and the response that I received was the following. I can go to Dominican Republic without an issue since I will be using someone to sponsor with me due to my income tax in previous years not being enough. That person is a government employee and makes over 100k a year. After visas are provided and they come to the US they cannot return to the Dominican Republic to stay (vacation is ok) at least until after 2 years since they are to receive a 2 year visa. Within those two years they must prove that they are established and living here in the US. No big deal. As long as we are all together. /// Ladies and gentlemen this is a forum where all of us go to get answers or clear up things we are unsure or have doubts about. We post them here for that reason. Not simply so people can read for there entertainment and move on. If you are not going to contribute then why join the forum. I understand we don't all have answers but even an opinion at times can help. Might even help in pointing us in the correct direction. ///Just a thought.

good evening. What you have researched seems accurate. Know that you can skype call USCIS for free. You will be doing this a lot. Are you asking if you should wait for the I-130 approvals before you move? After approval (if you don't get a RFE-which I did-which can be handled) there is a substantial amount of time for the transfer of the case to NVC and then they assign the number. This time period can cause some grief. I (USC) live in Mexico and USCIS, after mailing my receipt of I130 and my RFE to me, started encountering their own issues with my address here in Mex. They found it to be 'undeliverable' during my approval phase. I think after several calls that this has been resolved. I am planning to move back to the US and change my address after the NVC number is assigned. Try to limit their confusion. And as much as you limit, some will still seep through for you to handle. Expediting your case once you, as USC, move abroad may payoff. Look into how to ask for it. Some USCers abroad it has helped. It seems a touch random.

Neo,

I think people were interested in your topic and what you had to say, but maybe did not respond because they did not know the answers to your questions. It is best to be sure of an answer than to try "guessing", isnt it? I am glad you got your questions answered.

I too have contemplated relocating to D.R. I have faith though that his visa will get approved and that will not have to happen, but we all must do what we choose is best for us and our situation. I wish you the best of luck in whatever direction you choose to move in.

Take care :)

Neo,

Agree with Chastity. I myself was one who read your topic and didn't reply. I simply didn't know the answer. There are soooooo many people on these forums, our knowledge is all on different levels, but sometimes if you wait a little longer than one person who does know the answer comes along to give you what you are looking for.

I wish you luck in your decision.

I am in agreement as well. Yes we read peek in heck if I know I'll tell it. Or go PM someone who knows and tell them hey go take a look at this post. I am sure no one meant any disrespect. But wouldn't you rather get answers then fluff.

But since I am here. How cool to be able to go live in DR. Sounds like heaven. Okay thats all I have. All the best to you and yours.

Thanks all for the responses. I will probably go there until interview. As far as address I will still keep my NY address so that will limit confusion. God willing this will be over soon. If the vj timeline is accurate I should be getting a response very soon.
