The background: My wife is Canadian. I am American. We met abroad and married in Singapore in March. We have our marriage certificate from Singapore. We moved back and are now getting things figured out. I am in Canada on a visitors pass. Problems we're facing: Neither of us have a job as we moved home to be closer to family for the delivery of our baby in August, not for any job offers. So, we're not sure that we can really sponsor one another to be PRs. Also, we don't know where we'll live, Canada or U.S. but this question regards living in the U.S.

MY question is: I saw that she can come to the U.S. on a K-3 visa after I submit my I-130 form. However, the description said the she has to apply through the country in which we were married. However, Singapore is a nightmare to get any paperwork done in, especially since we weren't PR there, just on work visas. Does she have to apply through Singapore? Or can she apply through Canada?

Can we get married a second time in Canada to avoid the headache that is Singapore-red-tape?

Additionally, if anyone has information on how I can be allowed to stay in Canada while applications are pending, like a Canadian K-3, that would be amazing.

THANKS!!!!

Forget Singapura and the K-3 (Well, remember Singapura and the best curry laksa on the planet).

Some Silly things you need to read about the K-3:

Comparison on K-3 vs CR-1 - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/204324-wondering-if-i-made-a-mistake-marrying-in-us/page__view__findpost__p__3060767

K-3 administratively closed - http://www.visajourney.com/news/2010/02/07/department-of-state-to-close-k-3-visas-if-i-129f-and-i-130-petitions-approved-and-received-together/

Then, I beg of you, refactor your plan after reading.

Nota Bene: It is NOT OK to imbibe with Curry Laksa and Poutine on the same day. You'll really get messed up.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
