I am not sure how many of you witnessed or remember it but in 2011 state of union, Obama mentioned that they should be making it easiar for international students to stay in USA after graduation. After that what i heard from people only was that Obama introduced a bill under which:

"An international student who has completed a masters degree and have a job offer, could directly file for Green card processing"

Just want to if anyone know any update/possibilities on that?

Is this now even a bill floating in congress/executive/judiciary committee?

When i search online for updates, all I can find is about extension for working terms after graduation.

Thank you.

I do not have a Masters Degree but I am wondering how Obama would introduce a bill?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

There is nothing currently. The political climate is not right for Obama to do much of anything. The Republicans are not going to give him any legislative wins. Increasing immigration during an economic downturn is not politically popular in an election year.

You are having problems finding things because the 2011 State of the Union speech was just a proposal that gain no traction. It is not a high agenda item. It was just an idea that never have a lot of support, so it languish in political limbo.
