HI all,

My wife and i are just starting this process and so i may have a few questions for you all! I'm applying for an AOS from an F-1.

Our residential address here in Hawaii does NOT have USPS service.... they don't deliver here... Period!

Ive had a read on the Forums here about using PO Boxes as addresses and have seen different pieces of advice, has any else been in the same situation as us?

I-693 States NO PO Boxes...

I-485 doesn't specify that PO Boxes can't be used... but its recommended that it should match up with the I-693...

I-130 doesn't specify that PO Boxes can't be used... But the Petitioners side is recommended to be a residential address...

I-765 doesn't specify that PO Boxes can't be used... but its recommended that it should match up with the I-485....

I-864 just says mailing address...

The MD doing my I-693 told me that i should be fine with using the PO Box for everything... Including the I-693... He's seen other people do it successfully.

I Spoke to the USCIS "oh so helpful" helpdesk and was initially advised that i would need to book an Infopass appointment to get this answered.... even though it meant talking a flight to another island!!

Finally i got to speak with someone in "Level 2" whatever that means and was told told use my Residential Address for everything. Then add a "remarks" or addition notes sheet for every form explaining the USPS delivery issue and giving my PO Box details.

Any advice would be welcome, thanks

I am not sure with AOS, but my husband has used a PO Box address all throughout our CR-1 process and that has never been an issue. That may partly be due to him living on base and not having a choice, but still. Hope there will be others to chime in as well, especially if they have more information on Hawaii-specific stuff.

Good luck on your journey!

Thanks for the replies.....

Big Island...

My wife's relatives all live in GA, so not that near by unfortunately. I guess we could use her work address but I'm not sure we would gain anything....

I-693 Form asks for "Home Address"... the Instruction form tells you to give your physical Street Address, Not a PO Box number...

I'd really like to use a consistent address on all the forms, i'm thinking that i should use the PO Box number on all forms except the I-693 and just add an additional note sheet with the PO Box details.

I'll see if anyone else has any other thoughts or experiences

My thoughts are most of those forms generate mail...an approval, appointment, a greencard. So I would use the PO Box on those for sure. The medical form is not an application and your physical address would be fine. Add a note in your cover letter explaining your unique situation and why you had to use a PO Box on your applications.
