take with you all original papers that you submitted with the I-751(birth certificate, marriage certificate, pictures, tax return, bank statement, utilities bills etc...The questions usually are when, how and where did you meet your husband? his parent's name, when is his birth date, where does he work and vice versa. Most of the offices do not stamp the I-551 but after the interview you will get the green card after 7,10 days, but if he decided to stamp the Green card in your passport(I-551) you can travel abroad e reenter without any problem.

I just received my AOS interview date and I had a few questions.

What do I need to bring?

What will they ask me?

What is the I-551 and when/how do i get it?

Will the I-551 allow me to travel abroad?

I-551 is a permanent resident card, also known as the green card. If you are approved at your interview, your green card will be mailed to you. You can travel internationally and use it to re-enter the US. You just show your passport and green card when you return. If you need to travel right away, you can ask for an I-551 stamp in your passport at your interview upon being approved. They may or may not provide you one. They tend not to give out the stamp lightly. Sometimes they do not approve you right away at the interview either, and you may have to wait until they make a decision on your case before they mail you your green card.
