We have finally gotten to this stage. Scheduled POE (point of entry) Friday afternoon!

Here are my questions:

1. She now has the sealed medical packet she got from the doctor (with docs and xray insise) and the form (DS-3025) with her vaccination record.. She will receive her passport with the Visa in it tomorrow. Question --- At the POINT OF ENTRY - they will take ONLY the sealed envelope, correct?

3. This is about the SSN, once again - I tried reading past threads but I kept getting conflicting answers. DO we or DO WE NOT need the SSN before getting married? Seems like a pointless step since we are going to have to go back and change the last name right after we register our marriage.

2. This question is more about the AOS. We are getting married on the 25th and would like to file as soon as possible - so the question is --- I read in one thread that since she just had her medical exam, only the bottom part of the I-693 needs to be filled out by the Civil Surgeon (and he does that using the DS-3025 form with the vaccination record I mentioned above) Can someone confirm or deny??

Thank you all!

The sealed envelope she will hand over at her POE has more than just her medical in it. It is her entire case file so far that will get sent to the USCIS. She should have been given sealed medical results to turn in at her interview, and a copy of the DS-3025 and her x-ray for her to keep. Is this is an extra set of her medical forms just for her, or AOS? I am not quite positive what you are asking here, but yes, they just take the sealed envelope and she will be given an I-94, most likely stapled into her passport and stamped with her date of entry.

3. This is about the SSN, once again - I tried reading past threads but I kept getting conflicting answers. DO we or DO WE NOT need the SSN before getting married? Seems like a pointless step since we are going to have to go back and change the last name right after we register our marriage.

The SSN is not needed to get the marriage license. They will usually accept the foreign passport if you do not have an SSN. If you are waiting until you are married and she changes her name to get the SSN, just be aware that sometimes the SSA will ask for the EAD or green card in her married name before they will issue the SSN. They are supposed to do it with just the marriage certificate as proof of name change, but sometimes they won't. You can go ahead and get her SSN in her maiden name after she arrives, then go change it to her married name once her green card comes with her married name on it. She can get it changed then and have the notation that states "valid for work only with DHS authorization" removed at the same time that way. Make sure you fill out all the AOS forms with her married name.

If she had all the required vaccinations at the time of her medical, then she does not need to see a civil surgeon at all. She just needs to send a copy of her DS-3025 with her AOS paperwork. If she is missing vaccinations and needs to see a civil surgeon, she does not need a whole new medical, just needs the missing vaccinations and to have the others from her DS-3025 transcribed to the I-693. The instructions state you need PAGE 1 and the vaccination page filled out. It will need to be signed by the civil surgeon and sealed in an envelope that you will send in with your AOS paperwork. This is a good thread to read in order to know if you need to see a CS or not: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/335754-ds-3025-complete-or-not/page__p__4971318#entry4971318

This has been very helpful Jay-Kay, thanks so much! I'll follow up to see what packet she has once it's morning time over there :)

Different consulates have different procedures, but normally the sealed envelope you need to hand over at the POE is given when you get the passport with visa in it. I have heard of some countries giving out an extra set of medical forms to be used for AOS. She should check to see if that is what she was given. You are welcome :)
