Marriage status will also show on background checks. You could potentially be denied entry even after approval of a visa if they believe you are married.

Further to this, if/when they discover that you were married when you entered on K-1, they can revoke your PR status, deport you, and ban you for life for fraud/misrepresentation. Yep, it has happened. There is a news story floating around here of a Japanese/American couple in this situation.

Yes, you can do this. Keep in mind the UK requires a visa for the foreign national to marry in the UK.

The type of wedding doesn't matter.

I had a "rushed, cheap job" and my marriage is just as valid.

The type of wedding doesn't matter.

Our legal wedding was just the two of us, the witnesses were employees of the courthouse. It doesn't matter what wedding you had or who was there.

I believe you can get married on this visa as long as you give notice to the appropriate authority.

The UK system is terrible. The instructions are very unclear compared to USCIS and their website will just send you in circles.

It's all very frustrating, whatever country you are in. It's worth it though!

Ahh, more important information comes out.

Look into DCF (Direct Consular Filing). I am not sure if a student visa will qualify, but it's possible your original plan (with spousal visa not K-1) would work.
