Traveling outside the US with AP...

So hello everyone, and thanks for taking the time to read my post... I came to the US through a K1 on december of last year, got married within the 90 day period and filled AOS before my I-94 expired, we got EAD/AP card but are still waiting on the green card. Obviously my I-94 has expired already and I was reading some horror stories about traveling outside of the US with AP and the expired I-94. We bought tickets for Mexico after we received the AP but after what I have read, I am scared to go out of the country and not be admitted back in...

Should I calm down and travel or should I be freaking out I might not be admitted back in???

Calm down and travel. I was scared for my husband too, but it was unnecessary fear. Good luck.

ETA: I would recommend you take the I-94 out of your passport NOW and don't let an airline or other person take it. The I-94 now belongs with your AOS application and you can then present it for inspection if needed at an interview. CBP told me to do this.

Harpa Timsah thank you about the advice on the I-94, I was wondering about this!!! In case they ask for it at the US border, should I just show it to them or there is no reason for them to ask for it??? Thank you so much!

I took my husband's out of his passport and no one asked for it. I gave him a note with the CBP instructions I got, but no one cared. A I-94 is not required to leave the country.

So basically you mean when I travel out of the country with AP, the I-94 I have right now(not expired yet,I am still in school) no need to be returned to the CBP??

And When I come back, Do I get a new I-94?? Or nothing at all? I am so confused!

1. Yes. It is a part of your AOS application now.

2. You will get a new I-94 with an AP stamp on it when you come back (if you use AP, if you wait until GC, then you no longer get a I-94). Are you the OP?
