I could use some assistance and advice guys. Basically we filed our AOS and as of today we have done the Biometrics and the wife has even recieved her Employment Authorization card in the mail on May 31, 2012. We are waiting on the I-485 Approval; however, here is the issue, I know these approval range from a few months to even years sometimes and we are on a timeframe because when I did the paperwork I did not complete the I-131 requesting advance parole. I will be deploying to Afghanistan in September for 6 months and I do not want her to stay alone here in the US with our daughter, especially if she is not driving, or completely speaking the language. We have no family close by, we are both from Panama so I was hoping that the GC was here by August but not sure now. Should I be completing the 131 and if so should I use the examples in this website for the forms. She will be gone almost 4 months so I am afraid they will deny it because its more than a few weeks. ANY ADVICE??

Have you requested an expedite for the GC to be issued because of your upcoming deployment?

Honestly I would try that first and if that does not work then either do the forms with an expedite request or make an info pass and request a stamp in the passport so she can travel.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I agree with Inky on the GC expedite. That said, since AP can take a couple months (but is free with AOS) I would file for that now, include a copy of your NOA1 so you don't have to pay. At least you should get that in time.

If she does not have her GC by the time you deploy you will need to have someone checking her mail. If she is requested for an interview she will have to return for it (you won't). I'm honestly not sure if she would need to immediately return to get her GC when approved - someone else can answer that.

You still have 3 months, though. Did you receive any notification regarding where your GC is? (CSC, local office?)

Don't travel abroad until she has the GC

She can be placed in removal proceedings
