Once Again Visa-Journey has proved its worth!

My I-129F was approved September 14. And I relaxed for awhile--made it! Right?

Time has passed and I decided I wanted to contact the Kiev embassy with a question so finally decided to contact NVC to get my 'KEV' number---"should be there by now", I reasoned.

Called up and entered my 'WAC' number----------"We have no record of your case--as far as we are concerned you don't exist...." (my paraphrase of the message I heard)---tried several times---same thing.

Panicing slightly I rushed to the computer to VisaJourney haven----- and low and behold there were others of YOU experiencing the same thing----phewwww!--relief--I'm not alone!

WELL! The very NEXT day (after hearing that they know nothing about me) I received in the mail--a letter from NVC with my new 'KEV' number enclosed!

(for those of you who don't know--the number beginning with 'KEV' is issued by the NVC and is your actual case number)

SO---- if you've contacted NVC and they've never heard of you--don't fret too much--- your envelope is probably on the way also. Your stuff is most likely moving thru the channels and they just haven't informed the Robotic Voice of Doom yet--ha!

My KEV number arrived two days short of one month from my NOA2 approval date.

Thanks for posting this. I think it does help calm some fears of what is happening at NVC. Those of us in CSC are so on edge for these unexplainable delays! :star:

Mine took 5 weeks to get to the NVC. BTW, the automated system does not work for K-1's They are their so short of a time it never gets in there. The only way to find out is to talk to a operator.

Gary!!! You're still alive!!! :D

Great to see you post!!!! Have you reconsidered about moving on to the Philipines?

Johnta, Congrats on getting approval at NVC and having your petition forwarded over to KEV.

Gary!!! You are still here!!! Glad to see you!!! Please dont leave us here at the VJ family! You and Luz are really important to all of us!

Hi folks. I have lurked for a tad as I worked my way into and hopefully through this process this year. Now time to post to say hello. As I watch some of the approvals a tinge of jealousy pops up but then as a "comrade in arms" dealing with the same concerns, I applaud your approvals. I hope your process ends soon as you enter the interview stage. Personally I cannot wait until we can both sit and laugh about the good and the struggles of 2006.

Best Regards,

Derek

Welcome to VJ Derek! I too knew that small twinge of jealousy at others' approvals when I first started VJ, especially during the IMBRA fiasco and the 1-month rush at the VSC. Now I am on the other side I suppose, where might feel jealous of us. But even now I am not started into the second step of the process of returning packet 3, but certainly waiting for the USCIS approval was and is the most painful hurdle of the process. Strength to you and your fiancée during the wait - you will make it through eventually, as we all do.

Cheers and God Bless,

-Eli-

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and I must say, this site makes me feel so much better and less depressed. When I saw Gary C's timeline, I felt so relieved! Not that I feel happy because it's taking their petition so long to be processed. No, no no! PLEASE DON'T GET ME WRONG! All I am saying is that Gary's timeline is so much similar to mine. All this time, I've been so depressed because I've been seeing comments from people saying how fast their petition were moving and mine was kinda' like in limbo. Now, I don't feel like my petition's gonna go down the drain! Here's my timeline:

March 10' 06 - Filed Petition

March 13 '06 - USCIS received Petition

August 05 '06 - Petition Approved by USCIS

October 04 '06 - NVC received our Petition

October 06 '06 - NVC sent Petition to Manila

Current status: No idea. :(

You see, there's like a long lag in between each process and I'm in panic all the time. I would cry non-stop and I was like "What's wrong with our papers? Why is it taking longer than the others?" I thought I have an isolated case! And to think that I've known my fiance for over 2 years now and we are together 2 to 3 times a year. Everything is legit!

The worse thing about everything is that no one sends us email about anything! I've read here that some of you have gotten some sort of notification via email but in our case, we are always in the dark. That made things harder for us. We had to call the USCIS and the NVC back and forth to know what's going on. And honestly, the lawyer we got don't know squat! He just tells us that it's out of his control. I feel really duped.

Anyways, now that the NVC said that they've sent the petition to Manila, we are once again waiting for something to happen and I must say, I'm about to die!

Oh, I have questions:

1. What does "touched" mean? I feel like a complete idiot but I really don't what you guys mean by that.

2. How many packet are we suppose to wait for? Some people say packet 3, some people say packet 4 and am I supposed to have recieved packets 1 & 2 before?

I hope you guys can help me. I am this close to being desperate. :(

Welcome to VJ Sinkhanna!

As you can see, there are big delays at all levels of this process, and a waiting a few months at each step is not uncommon. To answer you questions (to the best of my ability)

1) "touched" is when you see that your case has been worked on by logging into the USCIS website and seeing that the date of last activity has been changed. Everytime this date changes, it means that some kind of internal processing has taken place on your case, and you may recieve an update. (notice of RFE, or approval or etc.) However, you cannot track "touches" for YOUR case anymore, as you have already been approved at the USCIS level.

2) The packet you are waiting for now, is Packet 3. The embassy will send this to your partner, and this packet will include a checklist of all of the documents and items that must be acquired prior to the interview. After Packet 3 is returned to the satisfaction of the embassy, they will send Packet 4 with your interview date and so on. It is my understanding that Packet 1 was the initial petition package, and Packet 2 is the approved petition as it is sent to the Embassy.

Hope that helps, and you have a speedy process the rest of the way! (Im still waiting on NVC. :( )

Hi a1cpat,

Thank you so much for the info. It made things clearer to me especially on the packet part. Gosh, I just realized how clueless I am about the K1 process!

I do hope you get your letter from the NVC real soon. I feel for you and I will include you and your fiance in my prayers.

No---I haven't received any email notice from NVC a'tall!

but apparently my application will be on theway to Kiev shortly if their snail-mail letter is legit.

I'm assuming its already winging its way.

Johnta,

We received our KEV number by e-mail Oct.12. It's been 3 days shy of a month now since the NOA2 so I e-mailed the Kiev consulate this morning (ivkiev@state.gov) to see if they had the case yet. The e-mail reply said the case was received and Packet 3 would be mailed today. They went on to say that I could download the Packet 3 documents from the Embassy web site http://kiev.usembassy.gov (look under the visa services and fiance visa links). In a follow-up phone call I was told that I could go ahead now if I wanted and return the KEV-1 by e-mail. I did that and returned the scanned KEV-1 today. Maybe that will cut some time from the process if you are looking to do that. Ihe consular officer said they are now scheduling appointments for the second half of November. Hope this helps.
