We received our NOA2 about 4 weeks ago after about a 5 1/2 month wait, saying we were approved. Today my fiance received a letter stated that the NVC has received our approval and that I (the beneficiary) should be expecting a package in the mail soon. It stated that the petition will be forwarded within a week to visa-issuing post where my interview will take place. Can someone let me know what I should be expecting in this package? I am from Canada, and it's being forwarded to Montreal.

Also, here http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide it shows what my fiance should do once we get our NOA2. Some of the things we do not have (i.e a full copy of our petition, I know we should have but we never made an extra copy). We have some of the PDF forms filled out but that's about it. Also, does he have to send me bank statements and pay stubs? My fiance has a letter from his employee stating that he is employed full time, but it doesn't state how much he gets paid since it is hourly and not a salary yet, will that still be ok? Is he supposed to send that letter to me as well? He's not rich or anything, and we don't have much saved, is this going to be a problem? He can support me on his salary (I lived with him for 6 months) but is that enough for them?

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. I know there's a lot of into online but I get really easily overwhelmed and I find it easier to understand things coming straight from people with experience.

Sorry for any typos, I get REALLY anxious about this.

I did start there, some of my questions aren't answered. For example, is it ok if we don't have EVERYTHING from our k1 petition, as in the whole copy (we have some of the papers). Is it ok if his letter of employment doesn't state his salary? And are all these papers/proof of his employment, for me to take to the interview, or for the forms I am about to get?

You don't need to follow exactly through the guide on VJ, it is only the community site where everyone share their own experiences. Keep in mind that each case is unique and each consulate has their own specific procedure. The true source of information should be refered to the government website. If you don't want to wait for package 3 to arrive in the mail, try to go to the consulate website in your country and see if there is package 3 available for download. Yes, your fiance need to send you Affudavit of support along with supporting documents (income tax return, W2, paystub, employment letter, bank statement....). And of course, you don't need a copy of the petition for the interview, it is not required.

You should visit the Canada forum on VJ to chat with others who have been through Montreal and can provide you with info on the package. Once you get to the NOA2 stage, the process can vary by country.

The I-129F petition and supporting documentation will have been forwarded from USCIS -- > NVC --> Embassy. The point of having a copy is in case something gets lost, so you can quickly have access to it.

Along with the completed I-134, he will need to show proof of employment and income, such as recent paystubs. If it's just the two of you, he will need to earn $18,912 at a minimum or else he'll need to secure a co-sponsor.

Congrats! I'm also going through the Montreal consulate (I'm the USC). I'd be happy to help you with any questions you have and a good place to start would be the Canada forums as things vary by consulate/embassy at this stage of the process so others from Canada would be best able to help you. For Montreal you will need to gather the docs for Packet 3 as the next step. The consulate website is here: http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/visas/visas/fianc-k-1-visas/steps.html. Shows all the steps in the process. Look at the link for Packet 3, and here is a link detailing the docs required: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html#police. Long form birth certificate, police records, etc. For the I-134 you'll want to wait at least a month before your fiance gets employment, banking, and other financial evidence so they aren't too old by the time you get to the interview. If you search for I-134 you'll find tons of detailed posts on this. Long story short he needs to make at least 125% of the poverty line, plus a bit for every dependent. You can also have cash assets to overcome but you've already stated you're not in this position. Worst case you will need a co-sponsor for the I-134 and I-864.

Thank you all so much for the helpful replies, I should have thought of using the Canadian forums, sorry about that. Since I am already here, however, I have a question about one of the forms I need to fill out: https://evisaforms.state.gov/ds156.asp

It wants me to state how long I will be staying in the US, I would obviously answer that I plan on living there permanently right? Or am I only allowed to state for 3 months since that's technically how long my visa is for, and how long I have to get married?

I tend to read too much into things so forgive me strange questions ahead of time.

Make use of the sample forms (link is at the top of VJ in the second ribbon titled Example forms). We put permanently as suggested in the sample DS-156 (here: http://www.visajourney.com/examples/Form-DS-156.pdf). This whole process makes us all nervous and paranoid so no need to apologize!
