The letter you will receive, your NOA2, states that your case has been approved by USCIS and passed onto the NVC. They say to allow 30 days before calling. I started calling immediatley after getting the NOA2 just in case I got lucky. Didn't happen. Our NOA2 date was May 8th and NVC just received our case on May 21st. However, they haven't entered the data into the system yet, so we don't even have an NVC case number. They advised me that could be another 15 business days.

To get all this info you call NVC every day. They will ask you for your USCIS receipt number and after your probably 10-20min hold will tell you if your case has been received by the NVC or not.

Best of luck that it goes quickly when your NOA2 does arrive!

We rang them almost daily once we got our NOA2 to ask if our case had been received. It was taking about four weeks at that time (it may or may not be quicker now) but eventually they said they had the case and they gave us the case number and the IIN. We also gave them both our email addresses at that point.

Join Saylin's NVC thread - she is the go-to girl for NVC procedures. The current one is for May but there is a new one each month.

I see a lot of timelines include both "NVC Received" and "Case number/IIN" separately. When you get your NOA2, how do you know NVC has received your case before you get the case number and IIN?

By calling up NVC :)

Alright, so you call them to ask for case number/IIN, but they'll also be able to tell you when they received it? Thanks!

Yup, exactly! yes.gif
