Evidence of Support

Hi Everyone,

We're starting to gather the information for evidence of support, and not clear on which tax transcripts we need to order. On form 4506-T (to request a transcript from IRS), there are options for:

-Return Transcript

-Account Transcript

-Record of Account

Which of these do we need? And just to be clear, we need to order one of these for each of the 3 previous tax years, correct?

Under "Return Transcript", they also state that we need to indicate which form we require:

"Transcripts are only available for the following returns: Form 1040 series, Form 1065, Form 1120, Form 1120A, Form 1120H, Form 1120L, and Form 1120S."

Since I'm unfamiliar with the US tax system, do you know which form we would need? Or is this based on an individual's employment? My fiance is not self-employed, if that matters at all!

Only the most recent years' tax return transcript is required, the other two are optional, but a major plus.

If she isn't self employed and gets W-2s every year, I would assume 1040 is the correct one.

Yeah, I would certainly go ahead and get 3 years (2011-2010-2009) just for added security. But, I'm a bit of a worrier, so I always do too much...... Better to have and not need than to need and not have IMO.
