5 months (maybe more maybe less) is the processing time they aim for. If you go to www.USCIS.gov and than sign in and register your case number you can follow your case. And also see at bottom the processing times they are at now.

USCIS has 45 days to answer after they received your evidence requested in the RFE.

we had an RFE out of CSC this year.

in ours they wanted. "how we met, photos of wedding, photos of all trips to visit my wife, letter from my employer stating that i had been allowed time off from work and my salary, proof of how i paid for airfare, residence/hotel that i stayed at when visiting...."

i think the "RFE" is just a matter of whose desk you land on. some people working at uscis are good, and some are not

side note...2 weeks for me to gather and reply their RFE....6 weeks for them to clear our case.....an RFE basically adds 2 months

I am so sorry. (See what happens when you answer on a phone). I didn't even see the RFE. My bad.

Goodness they ask for all of that? Did you stay an extra long time? I stayed in Nigeria 6 months, so was wondering. Didn't think it would be that deep for USCIS.

I've seen copies of the RFE, basically 2 pages long, I enclosed all what they asked on the RFE list I got from a friend, and enclosed it in our petition when I filed our petition, I enclosed everything, kitchen sink too.

Employment letter, 52 pics of us ,and his family at marriage wedding celebration, 3 letters from friends and family who knows of our marriage, copy of our joint savings account in Egypt, Bank statement showing my debit card paid for the airfare, list of purchases I made in Egypt with my debit card .Life insurance on us, making each other the beneficiary, etc etc. Over load, 12 inches thick, I kid you not.......

We had a 4 page RFE. My RFE submission was almost 400 pages.

RFE are not ur friend

side note...i did not stay "extra long" but had made multiple trips within a 6 month period...
